Peanuts Baguette & Snoopy Curry

The Peanuts Movie has just been released in US. It's only coming to cinemas in Singapore in December. We'll be away for 2 weeks in December, looks like we have to wait till we are back to catch the movie. I've some charaben inspiration from the movie trailers and posters, but yet to find time to craft my ideas out. Not sure if I've time before I leave for my holidays as I still have some commissioned work to clear, if I don't, I'll definitely work on them after I'm back.

Meanwhile, I'm going to share two of my earlier Peanuts themed food art instead. Snoopy and friends baguette, which one do you like?

IMG_6961
Love eating these bite sized baguette with various toppings, I actually don't know what to call them, as I'm not sure if they can be called Bruschetta. To make these, I toasted the sliced baguette first, before I place the different toppings on it.

IMG_6963
It's quite fun making the characters out of the various ingredients. I love how they turned out, especially Lucy Van Pelt and Peppermint Patty, I used bacon and caviar for their hair respectively. All of them tasted really good too, lol.

IMG_6296
Snoopy soaking in Japanese pork curry. Both my boys love Japanese curry, and it's quite easy to cook too. I used thinly sliced pork meant for shabu shabu for this.

IMG_6299
Snoopy was made out or rice, nori and olive. Can you spot woodstock on top of snoopy's head? Woodstock was made out of mashed potato mixed with egg yolk.

IMG_6303
I'm trying to eat less for dinner, and now I feel so hungry looking at this curry, I better go and sleep soon, lol. Good night. :)

Snoopy Hot pot & Car

The first week of school is almost over, been rather busy, can't wait for the weekends to catch a breather and do some shopping. :) I'm trying to update my blog a little more often, I've so many creations waiting to be updated, I don't know when I can clear them at the rate I'm blogging. -_-

IMG_1329
Today's food art is Snoopy. This is Snoopy hot pot, before adding in the soup stock and boiling the ingredients. I love cooking one dish meal like hot pot, saves me lots of time and also not much washing up is needed. The kitchen does not needs much cleaning too after cooking too. :)

IMG_1310
Snoopy taking a nap on the hot pot. Snoopy is made of grated radish, the details were done using nori.

IMG_1334
Can you spot Woodstock on Snoopy's back?

IMG_2690
I got myself a miniature Snoopy car something back, lol.

IMG_2686
My rice version of this Snoopy car was made using rice, nori, cheese and olive.

This was one of our quick lunch during the school holidays, served with nuggets, lettuce and tomatoes.

Snoopy Christmas Bento

Hello! Back to update my blog with a Christmas bento, my second and last one for this year. Rather unproductive this year, could not find time to make more Christmas bentos, though I actually have a few ideas for this year.

Mummy Snoopy Bento

I did not have time for bentos or blogging due to the exams. I did not feel like making any as well, as marking and going through my boys' revision work always spoils my mood. -_- So happy that it's finally over today, and we can put our books aside for the year. I can't wait for the school holidays and our year end trip. :)

Sleeping Snoopy Somen

What a sleepy Monday, I had problem getting out of bed early again after the 4 days break from school. -_- Today's food art totally depict what I had wanted to do this morning.

IMG_9872
There you go, Snoopy sleeping blissfully on top of his house. I was so tempted to take a nap this afternoon, but had tons of stuff to clear, so I did not do so eventually.

IMG_9881
Snoopy was made from somen, nori and cheese. Snoopy's house was made from ume somen, which comes in a pretty pink shade, details were done using boiled kombu. For the side dish, I fried some chicken cutlets.

IMG_0032
Another sleeping Snoopy I made, this one was made from just somen, nori and cheese.

IMG_0036
Served this with some grilled salmon topped with ebiko and mayonnaise.

Snoopy & Woodstock Somen

I've been so busy everyday since school started. Sorry, probably won't be blogging much this month, not sure if I'll blog more often after that, I kind of like this current blogging routine of around two posts per week, lol. Here's a slightly longer post for today to make up for my lack of blogging.

IMG_9209
I mentioned previously that I love using somen/soba to create food art, as they don't take up too much of my time. This time, I decorated my boys' cold somen dinner as Snoopy. Somen was served cold with soba dipping sauce. I also cooked teriyaki meat patties for them to go with the somen.

IMG_9208
Ingredients used to create Snoopy were cheese and nori. If you interested in making this, you can click HERE to check out a tutorial I did for My Melody somen, the ways to make both are similar.

IMG_9241
I went on to make Woodstock somen on another day. This time I cooked chicken and carrots for the side dish.

IMG_9245
Woodstock was made using yellow egg somen, the outlines were all done using boiled kombu.

Sharing these Snoopy and Woodstock donuts from Mister Donut in Japan. I wanted to share them last year in another post but forgot to do so. These were their Peanuts characters Christmas edition last year.

snoopy1
These special edition donuts were pretty tasty, but my all time favourite is still their glazed "pon de ring". If you look at the upper photo, you can see a blur picture of the "pon de ring" at the background. I could not find a clearer picture in my camera, my only clearer picture is a selfie of me with my "pon de ring', which I can't share as I no longer share our personal photos.

Sharing a toast art I did after coming back from our winter trip to Japan last year.

Snoopy Chinese New Year

I'm not sure if this is going to be my last Chinese New Year foodart. I do have some ideas but somehow, I just do not feel like making them, ended up making some other stuff instead.

IMG_2253
Happy New Year greetings from the Peanuts gang. :) It is auspicious to wear red and bright colours during Chinese New Year. Chinese also set off firecrackers on New Year's Eve. Firecrackers are actually banned in Singapore for security reasons. However, we are always in Malaysia on New Year's Eve, so my boys get to see firecrackers and play with fireworks there.

IMG_2250
Ingredients used to create this foodart were rice, tomatoes, nori and egg sheet.

IMG_2237
A toastart version with Snoopy and Woodstock decked in their Chinese New Year costumes.

Ingredients used for this were quail egg, strawberry, corn and nori.
