Animals Themed Breakfast Set

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and in today's post, I will be collaborating with Magnolia, to share with you a kawaii animals themed breakfast set.

IMG_16
This the breakfast set I came up with, the Panda and Piggy are bread balls which I filled with kaya and red bean. The chicken is made from a hard boiled egg, the bear is made from sausage and the frog is made from kiwi.

IMG_2153-2
I've paired this breakfast set with Magnolia's fresh milk in a 200ml pack. I love this size, I always buy this for my boys, as it's conveniently packed and just nice for one serving.

IMG_2153-3
I'm going to share the step-by-step photos, so you can create your own animals themed breakfast set too. Let's begin!

IMG_2118
Slice off bread crust.

IMG_2120
Flatten bread with a rolling pin.

IMG_2121
Cut a slit on four sides of bread.

IMG_2124
Add in fillings in the middle. (I'm using red bean and kaya.)

IMG_2125
Bring four corners together and wrap up in cling wrap.

IMG_2126
Tighten cling wrap and mould the bread ball into a round shape.

IMG_2142
To make Panda, cut out Panda's nose from nori using a hole punch; followed by cutting Panda's eyes and ears from nori using a pair of scissors.

IMG_2143
Stick nori onto bread balls with a little mayonnaise.

IMG_2144
To make Piggy, cut out ears and snout from ham with a pair of scissors.

For snout, make holes from nori using a paw craft punch. Then, cut out Piggy's eyes from nori using a pair of scissors.

IMG_2146
Stick ham and nor pieces onto bread ball with a little mayonnaise.

IMG_2129
To make chicken, firstly use pasta sticks to attach corn (as chicken's beak) onto the hard boiled egg.

For chicken's eyes, cut out nori using a hole punch. For chicken's comb, use a heart shaped food pick. (Alternatively, you can also cut from red bell peppers and attach them on using pasta sticks. )

IMG_2130
To make bear, firstly slice a little off the sausage's bottom, and use a round cutter or straw to cut out as bear's ears. Attach the ears using pasta sticks. Using nori, cut out a round shape for the muzzle, and create eyes using a paw craft punch.

IMG_2136
Place chicken and bear into a container, arrange accordingly with some lettuce as backdrop.

IMG_2137
To make frog, use a round cutter to cut out two circles from guava, place it onto a slice of kiwi. Cut out eyes and mouth from nori, using a pair of scissors.

IMG_2141
Place frog into a container, arrange accordingly with fruits like strawberries and blueberries.

IMG_2165-2
Assemble and serve.

Bubbly World Hello Kitty Bento

Macdonalds launched the Bubbly World Hello Kitty collection at the end of April. There was no mayhem mad rush this round as compared to the previous Fairy Tale Hello Kitty collection. This time the entire set could be ordered online,  a great option for those who do not want to join the queue at the restaurant or eat their food. I did not get any though as my Fairy Tale plushies are still collecting dust at home. -_-

IMG_4529
The Bubbly World series features Hello Kitty dressed up as her friends, I chose to recreate two of my favourite design. The first one is Hello Kitty dressed up as Keroppi.

IMG_4532
There was basil chicken, stir-fried peasprouts with mushrooms and strawberries in the other bento box on the left.

IMG_4530
Ingredients used to make Keroppi Hello Kitty were rice ( coloured green using deco furi), egg, nori, crabstick, and ham.

IMG_9156
The other character I made was Hello Kitty dressed up as Badtz-Maru, on a slice of grilled cheese toast.

IMG_9157
Ingredients used for this were egg, nori, cheese and strawberries.

Sanrio Ice Cream Bento

It's back to school again after the one week break. We had a fun week, glad the rain stopped towards the end of the week and we ended the holiday with a trip to Universal Studios and Haw Par Villa. I took a break from foodart last week, I've so many ideas, hopefully I can get started tomorrow.

IMG_2985
Sharing these ice cream onigiri I made around a month back. These onigiri were inspired by Bell's very cute ice cream creations. She made hers using Magnum ice creams! You can check out her Facebook page HERE, she makes really awesome foodart.

IMG_2988
I chose to make Sanrio characters, from top to bottom, Chococat, Keroppi, My Melody and Hello Kitty.

IMG_2972
I took a photo of the onigiri before adding on the details, as I thought they look cute even without any decorations too. Pink and green rice were coloured with deco furi. The black one was rice wrapped with seaweed. The rice were all moulded onto ice cream sticks using cling wrap.

IMG_2981
Ingredients used to make these ice cream onigiri were nori, egg sheet, cheese and ham.

IMG_2997
My boys found these quite fun to eat, as they could eat the rice just by holding on to the ice cream sticks. :)

Bosch MSM67160 ErgoMixx Hand Blender

I received the Bosch MSM67160 ErgoMixx Hand Blender last week. I will be doing up a review in this post, as well as sharing three easy and yummy recipes using this product. One of them is mild guacamole cheese toast, which will be shared in this review post. The other two are curry pumpkin soup and fruity cream sandwich.

IMG_9474
I have always wanted to get an immersion blender, as it will be so much easier to use one to blend my soups. I'm really happy with this set, as it also comes with additional attachments as well.

IMG_9471
This blender comes with stainless steel QuattroBlade blender foot, XL chopper, stainless steel whisk, mixing beaker with lid and measuring beaker with lid. The hand blender is powerful with a 750 watts power and comes with 12 speed settings. The appliance is now retailing at a promotional price of S$109 (usual price S$159) until 5th Jan 2014, at leading electrical and departmental outlets island-wide.

IMG_9475
The blender is ergonomically shaped and features a soft touch handle, so it fits well in our hands and is comfortable to hold. As seen in the picture above, the blender comes with large buttons for easy operation. There is also a turbo button for maximum power too.

IMG_9477
This stainless steel blender foot is not only convenient to use, it does an impressive job in blending soup, smoothies, sauces, puree, etc.

I tried out the mixing wand to blend soup and smoothies, it does the job really well and fast. I used the universal cutter to minced chicken and it does the job effortlessly too. The universal cutter is also good for blending nuts, hard cheese, garlic, onions, herbs, etc in small quantities. I like the non slip container it comes with, so the container won't shift during the mixing process.

Lastly, I tried out the balloon whisk to whisk whipped cream and I must say it does the job as well as my standing mixer. I no longer need to bring out my bulky standing mixer just to whip up some cream. :)

Overall, the Bosch MSM67160 ErgoMixx Hand Blender is a breeze to use, it was easy changing the attachments and washing up was fast. I am impressed with the blender, it is a handy kitchen gadget to own and works really well. I will definitely recommend one if you are thinking of getting a hand blender.

IMG_9486
With the help of my Bosch blender, I prepared some guacamole and served it on top of toasted cheese bread.

IMG_9484
This is a mild guacamole recipe which is suitable for toddlers too.

IMG_9131
If you want to make the toast more appealing to children, how about turning them into cute froggies?

IMG_9132 \
All you need are bananas and blueberries for the eyes and strawberries for the cheeks. You can cut out nori for the mouth, or draw the mouth with nutella or chocolate sauce. :)
