Sheep Bento & Monbento Tresor

I'm sharing the last bento I made for Chinese New Year. This one is not so festive, but it's Chinese New Year inspired, since this year is the year of the sheep.

Sheep Cookie & Bento

Chinese New Year is almost here. I still have quite a few Chinese New Year creations not blogged. -_-  I might not be able to post them before Chinese New Year, but I will try to get them up before Chinese New Year is over, since Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days, lol.

Sheep Hot Pot and Noodles

I'm suffering from a lack of sleep since school started, been surviving on 4-5 hours of sleep every weekday, slightly longer on weekends. :( Not that I don't want to sleep, I still have work not done, so I would wake up again after my boys sleep, sign. However, I think age is catching up with me, I felt dizzy last night before bedtime, and it was so difficult keeping my eyes open today while driving. I ended up taking cat naps twice in the car while waiting for my boys to be dismissed. It's going to be busier next week as IT tournament is going to start, but I enjoy watching him and his teammates at their matches. I hope I can still find some time to make food art and update the blog.

Chinese New Year Bento

And so I did ended up making another two more foodart for Chinese New Year last Friday. I've no time to make anymore, so I guess these will be my last set of Chinese New Year foodart for this year.

IMG_2491
Wishing everyone Gong Xi Fa Cai with this Chinese New Year bento. :)

IMG_2488
Ingredients used to make the girl were rice (coloured with some ketchup), nori, egg sheet, ham and bubu arare (rice puffs on her hair). The horse was made from bread spread with nutella and peanut butter.

IMG_2492
I've to confess my original idea was to make the horse as another foodart instead. I was lazy and decided to just combine the horse into this bento.

IMG_2496
This toast is inspired by my newfound love for the cheongsam. I was never a fan of the traditional cheongsams but recently, the modern cheongsams I found are so wearable, I don't mind wearing them every day. I posted a photo of two of my favourite modern cheongsams from my recent loots, you can check it out on my instagram (@bentomonsters) account if you are interested. Ingredients used for this toastart were ham, egg sheet, nori and strawberry.

IMG_2497
I'm taking a break from foodart and blogging for the upcoming New Year holiday. I'll be back again next week. :)

Snoopy Chinese New Year

I'm not sure if this is going to be my last Chinese New Year foodart. I do have some ideas but somehow, I just do not feel like making them, ended up making some other stuff instead.

IMG_2253
Happy New Year greetings from the Peanuts gang. :) It is auspicious to wear red and bright colours during Chinese New Year. Chinese also set off firecrackers on New Year's Eve. Firecrackers are actually banned in Singapore for security reasons. However, we are always in Malaysia on New Year's Eve, so my boys get to see firecrackers and play with fireworks there.

IMG_2250
Ingredients used to create this foodart were rice, tomatoes, nori and egg sheet.

IMG_2237
A toastart version with Snoopy and Woodstock decked in their Chinese New Year costumes.

IMG_2236
Ingredients used for this were quail egg, strawberry, corn and nori.

Horse Burger

A fast post today, had a tiring day. This post is already in my draft folder with the pictures, I'm just typing out a short post so I can share this.

IMG_2216
I am sharing another horse creation today, made out of bread buns. I served this as a burger, the fillings are up on the left of the plate. I made this for IT's lunch after school last Tuesday.

IMG_2214
Hope you like this not very horse looking horse burger, lol. I'm off to bed, good night! :)

Hello Kitty Horse Bento

Chinese New Year is coming very soon, it's on the last day of this month! The Chinese zodiac sign for this coming year is horse, so I'm starting my first Chinese New Year bento with a horse theme. If you are interested, you can click HERE to check out my Chinese New Year bentos from previous years.

IMG_2232
A Hello Kitty horse bento from last week. Hello Kitty is wearing a horse hat and feeding a horse carrot. I think my horse's snout is a little too big, should have made it smaller. -_-

IMG_2225
The side dishes for this meal were shio koji chicken and stir-fried broccoli.

IMG_2226
Ingredients used to create this includes Aburaage tofu pouches, cheese, nori, ham and egg sheet. :)

Fortune Cat Bento

Here's my last set of Chinese New Year bentos, it's inspired by mama_berl's creation once again. :) I saw her fortune cat bento and thought it's pefect for the Chinese New Year theme. :)

IMG_4087
Waving fortune cat is made from rice, crabstick, nori and cheese. :)

IMG_4092
Other food are char siew, wantons, broccoli and strawberries. :)

IMG_4095
I got a goldfish cutter some time back, trying them out for the first time today! Love how they turned out. I bought more such cutters, going to try other designs next time. :)

Here's wishing a Happy Lunar New Year to all those who celebrates the occasion. I have Valentine's Day themed bentos scheduled to post next Tuesday, and I will be back to bento making again next Wednesday. Happy holidays! :)

Chinese New Year Snake Bento

I've two more Chinese New Year bentos to share, one design today and tomorrow will be the last one. :)

IMG_4061
I had some difficulties capturing the green snake and numbers in the photos. :( Green snake is coloured with deco furi and is supposed to represent the number 2. :P The numbers are cut out using pandan bread.

IMG_4072
The other food I packed are BBQ pork , strawberries and broccoli.

IMG_4101
Snack bentos for my boys, same idea as their lunch bentos, except the snake is also cut out with pandan bread, like the numbers. :) They had jam filled bread and grapes.

IMG_4103
The numbers were cut with an alphabet cutter, I trimmed the 'I' and 'E' to become '1' and '3'. :P

IMG_4074
Packed a gyoza and sakura bento for myself, which turned out looking like a monster face, lol. :P
