Gudetama Burger & Hotpot

It's been so so long since I last had a fever, I've forgotten how bad it felt. I now remember again because I was down with fever on wednesday, no idea what the cause was, my guess is either a virus or food poisoning. I was practically in bed the entire day, only getting up to cook and send/fetch my boys to/from school. At times like this, I'm happy my boys are no longer babies or toddlers and can look after themselves. IT was fine but LT caught the same virus too, as he had exactly the same symptoms as me. He was feverish at school but did not call for me to pick him up as he wasn't sure if he was running a fever. Silly boy, he must have felt terrible in school, he just laid on the floor once he entered the house, he said he had no more energy to move. We are both fully recovered today, really feels good to be well again, because there are so much stuff at home waiting to be done.

IMG_6036
More Gudetama food art from my archive to share. I can't stop making him, lol. I still have more ideas, which I'm trying to space out, else my whole feed will just be on Gudetama.

IMG_6043
This is a ramen burger, the usual burger buns are replaced by ramen instead. Gudetama is made just by cutting and placing nori on a sunny side-up. The white portion for his mouth is a white blob on the egg yolk, it wasn't intentional, it just happened to be there, so I tried to position the mouth there.

IMG_6037
The only problem with ramen burger is it does not taste good when cold, you have to serve it soon after cooking, so the ramen will be crispy outside and soft inside.

IMG_5531
Gudetama in a hotpot, hotpot is one of my favourite one dish meal, just throw everything inside one pot, not much washing up too.

IMG_5535
Gudetama was made from grated radish, the yellow portion is radish mixed with a little mashed egg yolk. The egg shell is just an empty egg shell, which I washed and put it there to take a photo, I removed it before boiling the hotpot.

IMG_5547
Yay, Gudetama will be happy it's weekends again. Time for me to catch up on my sleep. And I hope you have a great weekend!

Rilakkuma Burger & Toast

I was so busy the past few days with chores, I did not have time to blog. -_- Exams are finally over, can't wait for the holidays, we are going to Hogsmeade for maybe half a day, lol. I'll have to start planning the rest of the itinerary soon. :)

IMG_6165
It's been quite sometime since I last shared about Rilakkuma. He used to be my favourite to craft, along with Totoro, but these days, Gudetama seems to be taking over his position.

IMG_6170
Rilakkuma, Korilakuma and Kiiroitori burger set but none of them were made out of burger buns. Rilakkuma was made out of rice, Korilakkuma was made out of chicken egg and Kiiroitori was made out of quail egg.

IMG_6169
I was actually rushing to get this done before fetching LT from school that day, could not make it in time, so I left out the blush on Kiiroitori. I ended up being late by just a minute that day and LT was a little upset and told me not to do it again, lol. I've to manage my time better so this will not happen again.

IMG_5150
This was my brunch, I have this bad habit of skipping breakfast on weekdays. I know I should not but I'm always busy doing chores and cooking lunch in the morning, I always end up eating only at lunch.

IMG_5149
Rilakkuma was made out of bread, cheese, nori and ham. Kiiroitori was made from scrambled eggs, carrot, nori and ham.

IMG_5153
I ate this with sausages, tomatoes and wasabi sprouts. I'm in love with wasabi sprouts lately, it has this light spicy taste and it is now a regular item in my grocery bag every week.

Halloween Soba & Burger

I'm back with more Halloween creations. I can sleep later today because my boys only have school on friday this week.  However, we have to do exam revisions as their exams will start next week. IT is a lot more independent and quite confident this round (though I've to remind him not to be too complacent), so I'm finally focusing more on guiding LT with his revisions.

IMG_7221
Here's the first set of Halloween food art I'm sharing today. Frankenstein and ghost cold soba. Ghost is actually made out of somen, it's thinner than soba.

IMG_7217
I served them cold with a dipping sauce. It has been a long time since I last cook cold soba for my boys. LT was asking for them the other day, so I decided to serve them some, but not before I decorated them, lol.

IMG_7208
Ingredients used for the ghost were nori, ham, orange bell pepper and cucumber.

IMG_7210
Ingredients used for Frankie were nori, cheese and cucumber.

IMG_7320
Another Halloween food art I made was this Halloween burger set. Had a hiccup with this one, this cucumber Frankenstein was actually a last minute change. I had wanted to make Frankenstein out of spinach soup instead, but I tried a new recipe that day and the soup was not thick  enough, and I had problem placing the ingredients on it.

IMG_7311Jack o'lantern is made using a slice of cheese over a meat patty, you can take a look at this tutorial here, I used the same method to mould the cheese onto the patty. I used a knife to add on some indention on the cheese so it looks more like a pumpkin. And finally, the little ghost is made using quail egg.

Tsum Tsum Pooh Bear Burger

Can't believe it's already October, where did all that time go? :( I always get mixed feelings towards the end of every year. On one hand, I'm sad that time passes so fast. On the other hand, I'm happy because year end is always the time we take our longer trip and it's something I look forward to every year. But we have to get through the upcoming year end examinations first, have to get my boys started on their revisions.

IMG_0835
Finally posting about the step-by-step for this very easy to make Tsum Tsum Pooh burger. Pooh is made from a slice of cheese over a hamburger patty. This is the same method I use to make my MinionGarfield, clown and Pikachu earlier. You can use any of your usual patties recipe for this. If you have a copy of my  bento book, you can try out either the tofu chicken patties recipe on page 210, or the Japanese hamburg steak on page 217, or the meatball pasta recipe (shape the meatballs into patties instead) on page 234. And the Spring Sunflower Bee on page 149 of my book is also done using this way.

IMG_0841
Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore at the side are german cookies, I've shared the recipe earlier over here.

poohbear
This is really quite easy to make, hope you like this tutorial. :)

foodartsb8
Shape your meat patties and fry them.

foodartsb9
When both sides of the patties are browned, and it's cooked, place cheese onto the patty while it’s still in the pan so that the cheese will melt and mold onto the meat patty.

IMG_0960
Using yellow bell peppers or cheese, cut out the parts shown above.

IMG_0963
Use a craft paw punch to cut out ovals for the eyes from nori. Use a pair of scissors to cut out the rest of the details.

IMG_0964
Attach and secure on the parts using pasta sticks. Serve it with burger buns, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.

IMG_0842
And it's ready, it really is that simple. :)

Garfield Pasta & Burger

Are you familiar with Garfield? You probably are, if you are, ahem, as "young" as me. Garfield used to be very popular then, I remembered seeing him often in comic strips and television. My boys have not seen him in either of these, they have only seen Garfield the movie.  Come to think of it, there are quite a few characters popular during my time, but they seemed to have lost their appeal now. Maybe I should dig out those characters from my memory and incorporate them in my creations, lol.

IMG_1247
This is my second time making Garfield, the first Garfield bento I made was way back in 2012. I also made Odie then. This time, I only made Garfield.

IMG_1251
Garfield was made from a meat patty, covered with cheese, other ingredients used were egg, ham and nori.

IMG_1248
Served the meat patty with lettuce and tomato mushroom pasta.

IMG_6049
I used the same idea and made Garfield again out of cheese and meat patty. However, I served it as a ramen burger and changed Garfield's expression here.

IMG_6057
My first time cooking ramen burger, always wanted to try out this dish because it looks so interesting. My boys saw me cooking this and asked me why don't I just use Mamee snack to make this dish directly. -_-

IMG_6051
I guess it's not exactly healthy but it's quite yummy. Only thing is this doesn't taste good when cold, you have to eat it warm when the outer crust is still crispy.

Doraemon Burger

I actually wanted to do up more blog posts this week, as there was no school these few days. I thought I would have more time, but somehow, it did not work out the way I expected, lol.

Minion Burger

I've been really busy these few weeks, I'm still busy clearing stuff at night till I've no time to catch up on all those current K-dramas I've been watching. :( My boys' one week break is coming soon, it's actually a little longer than a week, as they will officially be off from school this Thursday. For some reason, I always seem to have even less time to do stuff on school holidays, I guess it's because we end up sleeping more and spending more time out of the house. -_-

IMG_1192
Alright, back to this Minion cheeseburger lunch I'm sharing today. I placed a slice of cheese over the beef patty while it's hot, so it will melt and mould nicely onto the patty.

IMG_1186
Can you catch a glimpse of the Minion meringue at the back? I did not take a clearer picture of it as it was a failure. The whole batch could not make it, they were too fragile and there were some cracks. I should have made macarons instead, I was feeling lazy and thought I could try meringue and skip making the fillings. -_-

IMG_1188
Here's a closer look at the Minion, ingredients used to make this were cheese, nori, egg and ketchup.

World Cup Soccer Rice Burger

Have you been following the World Cup? The semi-finals will be starting at 4am soon. I've not been following the World Cup at all, I've nil interest in it, I did not even keep track of the results. My hubby loves watching the telecasts though, I guess almost all guys do. He's been catching the previous matches ( those that he considers more exciting) with his friends at the nearby MacDonalds and Community Centres. He's off to bed early tonight so that he can wake up early to catch the semi-finals.

IMG_0433
I made this World Cup theme dinner around two weeks ago. I thought I better not procrastinate any longer and post it today before the World Cup is over.

IMG_0436
The soccer ball was actually a rice burger. There's a chicken patty and lettuce between the rice buns.

IMG_0440
I also made a mashed potato bear holding a Brazil flag. I'm not supporting any countries, chose the Brazil flag, simply because the World Cup is held there this year. :)

Easter Chick Burger

Ahhhhh, I've been super busy these few days. I've yet to make any foodart this week, I've had small pockets of free time here and there, but after all the running around, I rather whip up a fast meal, sit down, rest and catch up on my K-drama instead. I still have a few more Easter foodart I want to make, but I most likely won't be able to share them before Easter, rather undecided if I should still make them, guess I'll make up my mind tomorrow.

IMG_3898
Here's a simple food art idea for Easter, Kiiroitori hatching out from an egg. :)

IMG_3920
This is actually a cheese burger. I layered a slice of cheese on top of the patty and decorated it into Kiirotori, using carrots and nori.  This was quite fast to make. :)

IMG_3919
I will share another easy food art for Easter tomorrow. :)
