Spirited Away Bento

Have you watched Spirited Away before? It's from the same creator of Totoro, Hayao Miyazaki. I watched this film many years ago, but I've never shown it to my boys before. Since I don't make characters my boys do not know for them, I ended up making this charaben for myself. :P

Chihiro bento which I made last Thursday. Chihiro is made using crabstick, ham, nori and kombu. The side dishes were Shio-koji pork, spinach, tomato and mentaiko hanpen.

I've to admit I don't really like to eat charabens, lol. I prefer to eat a traditional bento instead.

Here's a bento I packed for myself last week, filled the box with teriyaki beef, sprouts, okra, tomato and mentaiko hanpen.

  4. Did you make the shiokoji yourself? I've been wanting to get my hands on some but can't find either the end product or the culture d:( Can share with me please?

    1. Lulu, I've bought the end pdt, hv not seen the grains used for culture. Meidi-ya has a few types. Jmart at 112 katong n Sakuraya fish mart at Parkway both only carry one type each n it's a different brand at both shops. :)

    2. Oh wonderful! I was at Meidiya just last week but didn't think to look for it d:(

But Parkway and 112 are much nearer and accessible so I will certainly go this week! Even one brand is better than none d:)

Wah you really travel all over Sg to look for ingredients huh d:P

    3. I hardly travel at all, lol. I stay at EC! So parkway n 112 katong are my regular places. But I prefer the jar ones at Meidi-ya though. The ones at the other 2 shops seemed more watery n diluted.

    4. Thank you for the review. I will go for the 112 and PP ones first to try. If I like it I will plan another trip to Liang Court (although it won't be for the next few months because my girl will be having Prelims shortly and then... *gasp* PSLE!!).
