This was inspired by my bento friend's creation, she made a doggy in a bowl of soup. However, she warned me that the rice grains will break apart very fast in the hot soup. Thanks to her advice, after I moulded the bear, I pan fried it with some oil and brushed on some soya sauce till a crust is formed. This way, the onigiri was able to hold its shape. :)
Bears soaking in miso soup. The other dishes for dinner were tonkatsu, stir-fried salmon with broccoli and ebikko mayo prawns. :) The bear behind looks like he is drowning, lol. :P
A closer shot. :)
This is my portion for dinner. Daddy's dinner is similar to the boys', a slightly bigger portion and served with plain white rice, instead of the grilled onigiri bear. :P
I bought this for the boys to play. It's actually gummy candy.
The instructions were all in Japanese. -_- I found this Youtube video that's very helpful. :)
The boys' gummy sushi. :) I bought the ramen and burger set as well, will let them play with those next. :)

Tks, TM. Lol, I missed making bentos, tt's why. :) For this, the soy sauce is just brushed out while grilling, taste is quite subtle. Or u can also add dark soya sauce, just one, two drops will do, tt one can't taste at all. :) Wow, tt's early, I'm still enjoying the break. :)
DeleteWow ,,, so cute ,, great idea for the relaxing bear ,,,
ReplyDeleteTks, cute little bento. :)
DeleteWow, yummy and cute. Such a clever idea of grilling the onigiri before dipping inthe soup.. Do you add mayo on ebi before frying? And where do u get the gummy candy in Singapore? I want to buy some too!
ReplyDeleteTks, Bobo, tks to my friend, else I wun think of grilling it. Nope, I added mayo and condensed milk mixture to ebi after frying. I bought it from a shop at I12 Katong, at East Coast. You can also get it online. :) Go www.gmarket.com.sg and search for popin cookin :)
