A big thank you to all of you who left such wonderful comments on the giveaway post, I appreciate it very much. Just want to let you know I did read all of the comments, but I will not reply you there, as I do not want to add on to the comments on that page.
I made the very hungry caterpillar from Eric Carle's book today. I think it's the first time I made a character from my boys' storybook. I'll definitely try to explore more in this area, will be digging out their story books and see what other characters I can come up with next. :P
LT's bento, in the box are rice, sweet and sour pork, spinach tamago and strawberries. The green rice was mixed with spinach and the red rice was mixed with tomato sauce. :)
IT's bento, same food as above. :) I think I got the mouth wrong for the bigger caterpillars, they look like angry caterpillars instead. Lol.
LT's bento for School, in the box are strawberry jam sandwich, pork nuggets and strawberries. The caterpillar is made from jelly beans.
IT's bento for recess, same food as above, except he had peanut butter sandwich.
The boys love the small boxes better because of the jellybeans. -_- I bought the jellybeans last week and they have been eyeing it for some time.
Rice, sweet and sour pork and spinach tamago for me. :)

The caterpillar on the rice looked worried.... Didn't want to b eaten by IT...lol when I saw the caterpillar on the bread, for a moment I thought they were gapes. Did u secure the jelly beans onto the bread? I'm sure my younger gal will love such bento with sweets!! Fm Emily
ReplyDeleteLol, I though he looks angry! Yeah, tot of using grapes and tomatoes, but boys dun like tomatoes and LT who loves grapes, wun eat green ones. -_- I spread some margarine underneath so it will 'stick' on. Lol, yah, kids all love sweets. :)
DeleteSo cute! I didn't expect a little rice ball catepillar or the hole in the strawberry - I love it! You all have some much imagination.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Lol, I just had to poke the hole, too tempting.
DeleteLove the caterpillars and the strawberries, super cute! I am taking a break from bentos due to the holidays but tomorrow is back to school and blur for me :(
ReplyDeleteTks, Rina. Ah yes, I remembered u mentioned it's holiday on Mon. I did hop over to your blog and saw there were no new post yesterday. Hugs, all the best for back to Sch! :)
DeleteYou've done it again!!! I love the caterpillar jelly beans (but probably not as much as LT & IT) (^-^) And the eatten hole in the strawberry is so super cute!! Loves it!
ReplyDeleteTks berrygirl. Lol, I'm still munching on the remaining in the packet. :)
DeleteYour caterpillars got more and more cute with each one! BEAUTIFUL bentos mama!
ReplyDeleteTks a lot, Corey

ReplyDeleteTks a lot, Cristi.
DeleteSo very cute!
ReplyDeleteTks a lot, Lise.
DeleteI love the jelly bean caterpillar, u are so creative Ming. Did u cook the nuggets and sweet And sour pork in the morning for your kids bento?
ReplyDeleteTks, Florence. :) The nuggets and sweet/sour pork are the same, I din add the sauce coz I think it will be messy in the box for School. I cooked sweet/sour pork the nite b4 for dinner, and kept some marinated but uncooked pork and some of the cooked sauce in my fridge. So in the morning, I can just quicky fry the pork and mix into the reheated sauce. :)
Deletewow, then u got to wake up early every morning to cook..
DeleteI made mine mostly in the night before, that's why i only make light ones like sandwiches.
We need to leave the house early to send both Es to school and babysitter's place.
I really hope i can make more variety for E in future, "if" I stop working.. who knows..:P
looking at your bento really makes me drools..:)
how long does it take for you to prepare the 4 bentos for your sons? coz i need to learn to be quick packer when little Miss E starts school next year.. another bento for her.
The boys are in the afternoon class, so actually I only need to get up ard 8-8.30. Ard 2 hrs, to cook bf, lunch n pack the boxes. But I only cook one dish for them, so if u see more than 1, the other 1 is usually fr nite b4. Like for this case, tamago was fr last nite. Oh, n I also try to prepare part of the box, day b4, like cut out the cheese, bread first.
Deleteoh .. i see.. but still, you have endless ideas on bento..
