I've been seeing lots of Setsubun bentos on Japanese sites recently, so I decided to make my own version. You can read more about the festival here if you are interested. In short, I think it's a celebration of spring, and a male will have to wear a demon mask and throw out soybeans to chase out the demons and to welcome luck in. However, the boys do not know anything about the festival, so to them, these were cavemen bentos instead. :)
I made a bento for LT to bring to School today, even though it's not Friday. He keeps bugging me for one everyday, and I finally gave in today. And I told him I will try to make one for him to bring to School whenever I've time, but it will not be everyday. :P
Bento for LT, in the box are onigiri, fried dumplings, salmon belly, egg sheets, strawberries and blueberries. The onigiri was made using multi-grained rice.
Bento for IT, same food as above.
Bento for LT to bring to School, in the box are strawberry bread, egg, grapes and salmon belly.
Bento for IT's recess, same food as above, except he had peanut butter bread. IT says that the spinach bread from yesterday tasted just like our normal white bread. :) And the orange bread in the bentos are carrot bread. :P
Supposedly demons, but I think it's better to call them cavemen. :P
Lunch for me, in the box are rice, fried dumplings, broccoli/prawns and salmon belly.
