Yes, like what I said yesterday, it's bears again for today. :) This time, the bears are moulded out of mashed potatoes instead. I've seen these mashed potatoes bears on Japan sites since rather long ago, but I can't read Japanese and I was not sure what I should mix in, so I did not try. But last week, thanks to a fellow Japanese bento Mummy who knows English, I can finally try this. :) If you want to try, just mix in some margarine(or butter), milk and a pinch of salt after mashing up the potato, leave it in the fridge after that and you can start moulding once it's cold. :)
This one is for IT, in the box are chicken/cheese burgers, mashed potatoes, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. :)
LT's crate, same food as above. It's the first time I've made chicken patties for their burgers, I've always made beef patties. :)
This one is for IT to bring to School, just a cheese/chicken burger inside. I'm not sure whether this bear can last till recess, I'll have to check with him. :P
My crates are back again. :) Love 'playing' with the mashed potatoes, will be trying out other animals with it. :)
Burger for me too, had mine with chicken patty, egg and curly crisps. It's a mini burger using butter rolls. So, I kept some dishes from last night's dinner to go with it, Szechuan spicy pork and cabbage/enoki stir fry. lol, yes I know it's a wierd combi. :)
I bought picks again. Lovely picks from Jmama. Aren't they sweet? :)

I can't tell from the pic that the bear is made of mashed potatoes at all. I have a pkt of freezed mashed potatoes in the fridge, hope I can mould juz as well as u. By the way, I see that u do deep-fry quite often, do u hv any special tips as my kitchen feels super oily after each frying session. Emily
ReplyDeleteEmily, try n let me know. I think can explore sweet potatoes, yam as well, lol. Actually I hardly deep fry unless I've no choice, use up too much oil, coz I dun re-use. I always shallow fry or an fry, the sides are not so nice but top/bottom still ok. Do u hv happy call? I use tt, n the kitchen is not really oily. Previously with wok, there's a layer of oil under my top shelves n hood, but dun hv tt after I've used happy call.
DeleteYup! I bought Happy call recently & will give it a try. Tried moulding with my mashed potato, A FLOP coz too much milk in this batch. Will prepare a separate batch for moulding when I replenish my stock in the fridge. Emily
DeleteOh great, happy call should solve ur problem. So, frozen potatoes wun wk. I din measure the exact qty, but I just added a little margarine n milk, was afraid it'll be too wet. The bear for School din last though, must think of other ways to position it so it'll still be ok by recess.
DeleteMing, thanks for tutorial on the mashed potatoes. I didn't know that till now! Super cute bears as always :) Your new picks are cute.
ReplyDeleteTks, Rina. Hee, not much of a tutorial. I did not know too until I asked this Mummy who shared her bento in the bento bloggers group. :)
DeleteSuper cute and in those favorite boxes of yours. I *WILL NOT* click that link to the store you like because I have way too many bento supplies that I don't use!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLol, so do I, we need to stop this habit of buying n stashing up.
DeleteSo cute and fluffy bears! Great picks as well, the colors are so wonderful, can't wait to see what you'll do with them!
ReplyDeleteTks for ur sweet comments, Berrygirl. Lol, might just use some of them tommorrow. :)
