A friend asked me to take photo of how I do the seaweed chicken. After taking the photos, I decided to do up a blog post and share with anyone who might be interested.
The first step is to slice up your chicken into strips and marinade it. For 1 chicken leg, you can marinade with 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp mirin, pinch of salt and sugar. Adjust to your liking. It's best to leave the chicken to marinade overnight.
Cut a strip of seaweed, then take 2 or 3 strips of chicken(depends on thickness)and lay it at the end. Roll up the seaweed.
This is how they should look after rolling up. After that, you can either deep fry, bake or pan fry them. If you are baking, it's at 180 degrees celcius.
These were pan fried using the Happy Call pan. The pan fried version is more juicy, but the deep fried and baked versions will give you a more even brownish color. :)

Do u hv a cooking wine u can use? If so, u might want to use tt with a bit of sugar, coz mirin is a sweet wine. Else just omit and add a pinch of sugar. :)
Deletei can't use any kind of things that has alcohol in it. so i just omit it and add the sugar instead. thank you for the tips, you're so kind :D
ReplyDeleteHow long would you suggest baking them for?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest at ard 200 degrees Celsius, around 10 minutes, and then turn the chicken n another 5 mins.
DeleteHi, may i know how long it takes to pan fry?
ReplyDeleteArd 10 mins, I usually use medium heat and take out a piece to cut and check if it's cooked.
