Mario Ghost Boo Halloween Bento

This will be my last Halloween bento for this year. I'm looking forward to making Christmas bentos. :)

This ghost is from the Nintendo game Mario. I did not know his name initially, but thanks to a kind reader, I now know his name is Boo. My boys have requested me to make this ghost few weeks back, but I wanted to do it as a Halloween bento, so I did not work on it earlier.

Taekwando Bento, the sequel

This is another version of the Taekwando bento from yesterday. For today, I decided to do the belts they are going for, LT is going for his yellow tip and IT is going for his poom belt. This time, I am using candy melts for the base and icing for the outlines instead.

This one is for IT. :)

Taekwando Bento

My boys have Taekwando grading this weekend. The internal grading is today, and tomorrow will be the external grading. LT is going for is yellow tip, it's going to be his first grading. IT will be going for his final one, the poom belt.

I attempted to use my candy melt pens to draw a taekwando uniform for them. Haha, I obviously need to practice more, but I had fun with the pens. :)

This one is for LT, in his favourite color blue.

IMG_4090

How to - Seaweed Chicken

A friend asked me to take photo of how I do the seaweed chicken. After taking the photos, I decided to do up a blog post and share with anyone who might be interested.

IMG_4321
The first step is to slice up your chicken into strips and marinade it. For 1 chicken leg, you can marinade with 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp mirin, pinch of salt and sugar. Adjust to your liking. It's best to leave the chicken to marinade overnight.

IMG_4035
Cut a strip of seaweed, then take 2 or 3 strips of chicken(depends on thickness)and lay it at the end. Roll up the seaweed.

IMG_4040
This is how they should look after rolling up. After that, you can either deep fry, bake or pan fry them. If you are baking, it's at 180 degrees celcius.

IMG_4044
These were pan fried using the Happy Call pan. The pan fried version is more juicy, but the deep fried and baked versions will give you a more even brownish color. :)

Mummy and Frankie Halloween Bento

I've been wanting to do this Mummy sandwich, been seeing it all over the internet. The idea to put Mummy and Frankie together was inspired by a fellow bento blogger.

LT is having a Halloween party in his class today, so it's just nice that he's bringing along a Halloween bento. :) It's Friday again, Happy weekends everyone! :)

Halloween Pumpkin and Ghost Bento

I was out of fresh food and bento stash in my fridge. So, I had to make do with processed food for our lunch today. I managed to dig out a pack of starry nuggets that I bought and forgotten. They look quite cute. :)

Hello Kitty Halloween Bento

Yup, I am still on Halloween theme for my bentos. I think I will be on this theme till next Monday. :) This time I made Hello Kitty, I wanted to make her a bow on her head, but I forgot all about it while doing the bento. I only remembered after I clear up all my stuff. So, I think this should be Dear Daniel instead. lol. :)

There will not be any bentos for tomorrow, it's a public holiday over here. :) I will be back with more Halloween bentos on Thursday. :)

IMG_4019
Bento for LT, he's having rice, chicken yakitori, sausage, golden kiwis and orange. LT does not like orange, I ended up eating for him. Hiaz. :(

Jack Halloween Bento

I've been wanting to do Jack from The Nightmare before Christmas, since I started looking for Halloween bento ideas a few weeks ago. The boys know nothing about this movie, and neither do I! However, they remembered Jack coz they saw a theme ride in Disneyland based on the movie. I am quite happy with how the bentos turned out. I love these new halloween picks I got from Cookie Cutter Lunch. They helped to complete this bento. :)

LT has no School today. He just had his concert last Saturday and today is a holiday in lieu of that. He had an early lunch with IT, the boys like to eat together. :)

IMG_4003

Piggies Bento

It's been raining for the past few days, dislike the wet weather when I've to send and fetch the kids to and from School. The weather is really cooling now, just nice to snuggle in bed. haha, but I do not have such luxury, will have to prepare dinner after I'm done with this post.

My original plan was to do a Halloween theme bento again. But I realised that I've some sausage balls to clear, so I decided to make piggies instead. I do not like the color of this batch of sausage balls, find the color a bit too dark and dull.

IMG_3903
3 little piggies for IT, he's having ham/cheese toasts, salmon, sausages and golden kiwis.

IMG_3904
Piggies for LT, same food as above.

IMG_3902
Piggy for IT to bring to School, he's having nutella pocket sandwich and grapes.

IMG_3905
Piggies for LT to bring to School, he's having strawberry jam pocket sandwich, salmon and grapes. And yes, he has more food than the older brother, that's because he enjoys having his bentos in School. Whereas, his brother, just wants to eat fast so that he can play with his friends. :P

IMG_3907
Piggies for today. :)

IMG_3912
My lunch, chilli prawns and fried man tou, cooked with the Happy Call pan. I am very happy that it can be used for frying as well, the man tou do not look as nice as the deep fried version, but taste wise is quite similar. And the best part is my kitchen is a lot less oily than before. :)

Ghost Mickey Bento

I came across Ghost Mickey while searching for Halloween Bento ideas. If I am not wrong, this was the main deco at Tokyo Disneyland in 2009 during Halloween. Oh, I miss Disneyland, and so do the boys. But we will not be going there this year. We are exploring a new country this time, I hope it will turn out just as fun. :)

IMG_3881

IMG_3894
No rice for me today, trying to cut down on carbo. In my box are pork bulgogi, tobiko omelette, tsukue and cabbage with enoki mushrooms. Nope, I did not cook all these in the morning just for myself, they were all from our dinner last night, I just cooked extra and kept some. :)
