Birthday

It's LT's birthday today. IT has no school, so I only made one bento today, an idea I got from a book. Its packed with his favorite fried dumplings and strawberries. The birthday boy turns 4 today! He had a simple birthday celebration at my mum's place last sat. And today, he celebrated in school with his friends.


Special birthday bento for the birthday boy. IT wanted one too, so I promised him I'll make him a special one for his birthday next year. :)

Bear Sammy

There's no school for IT today, it's meet the parents session at his school. I picked LT slightly earlier. I brought the bentos along for both boys to eat in IT's canteen, while I went up to meet the teachers. And they were both allowed to buy a drink from the school's vending machine today.

Chicks on Soba

Made cold soba for the boys today. The boys have their lunch bentos at home, IT before school, and LT after school. So I just kept the lunch boxes in the fridge. Snack box for recess is bread, this time cut with varying star cutters.

Wieners trains on onigiri for their lunch box. Snack box was sealed using round sandwich sealer, n imprinted with Mickey cookie cutter stamper.

Mickey and Cake

Mickey rice onigiri for their lunch today. LT celebrated in birthday in advance last Saturday, the snack bento for IT was a slice of his birthday cake. He had requested for sugar bunnies and 鼠小弟 ( a character from a Chinese story book series that he likes) for the toppers on a strawberry mousse cake, The mousse cake turned out fine, but the toppers I moulded were really ugly. But he loved them, hmmm, kids have very different standards from us.

Burnt Bear

My bun was almost burnt in the toaster today. That's why the burnt bear. Snack box was done using varying cutters on the bread again.

Strawberry doggies

Found a mochiko chicken recipe on the Internet. It's very suitable for bentos, the chicken still tasted crispy after it was cold. The extra ingredient was rice flour. I had extra chicken leftover, so I made a bento for myself.

Snack bento was sandwich with ham n sausage.

Chicks Cheep

Pasta with bratwurst, added in a chick made from quails eggs as decor. There is no school for IT yet again, so no snack bentos for school. Lots of off days for the primary 1s this year.

Din like how these turned out, spent quite a lot of time on the onigiri. Snack was pancakes cut out with a cookie cutter, no time to decorate these, so added in some barans to cutify.

My Melody Sammy

IT has no school for today, so no snack bento. Pork floss sammy with my melody decor for lunch, meat patties as side. I had some leftover, so I made a lunchbox for myself with some salad, drizzled on with jap dressing.

Am submitting this for what's for lunch wednesday, am still in the process of updating my blog, so this is not what I made for lunch for the wk of August 8.

Mushroom men with teriyaki chicken as side. Heart shaped sandwich was cut out with the varying heart cutters from daiso.

No school again for IT, though the theme was teddy goes to school. Side was salted salmon pan fried in magarine.

Purple Bear

I'm always left with purple color fr the coloring rice pack. Can't find much bento using purple. Decided to make a purple bear. Bear's holding an onigiri. Chocolate madeleine for snack, no time to decorate this, but guess the cutie panda pick was a saver.

Busy Bees

Farfalle with bratwurst. Not v healthy but v yummy. Decorated the egg yolk as a bee. Chocolate madeleines were baked the day b4, the boys still like the butter ones better, they are not choco lovers. No time to decorate the madeleine, so just added some cutouts from the bee bento.

Chicks bento with meatballs. The boys tot this was v cute, they were amused by the egg on mummy hen's head. Oatmeal cookies with sausages for snack. And a ham, egg mayo wrap for me.
